Airplane Safety
Flying the Friendly Skies
With the holidays upon us, airplane safety becomes a buzz word on every traveler's mind. And, while we don't like to think of the ramifications of unsafe travel, there are certain things that we, as traveler's, can do to make our experiences more enjoyable.
As easy as it is to dwell on the horrors of an airplane crash, it is more imperative to think about the astronomical odds against that happening. Recently, a university professor calculated that in order for the average person to be involved in a airplane crash, they would have to fly everyday, on random flights, for 19,000 years.
Our point is simple. Dwelling on something so random is futile. You should put your energies in other forms of airplane safety.
Take, for example, the following airplane safety tips that will make your flying experience better.
- Always keep your seatbelt fastened even after the captain turns off the fasten seatbelt sign.
- Listen to the flight attendant when they are giving the pre-flight instructions.
- Note where the nearest exits are and have a personal game plan if necessary.
- Wear sensible clothes. For example, it is encouraged that women do not wear high heels as they may be required to take them off at security checkpoints.
- Never leave your luggage unattended.
If your holiday plans involved air travel, it is always a good thing to familiarize yourself with airplane safety. With long lines and frustrated passengers, the better prepared you are, the better off your experiences will be. Don't be afraid to ask questions of the flight attendants or airline officials. Afterall, airplane safety is an important part of a great trip.
