Safety Solutions
If you've ever watched "The Simpsons," you probably know that Homer Simpson is a safety inspector at a Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, a job which he finally got on his third time trying. Homer's performance on the job is somewhat...lackluster, to say the least. He's been known to say, "You don't like your job, you don't strike. You go in every day and do it really half-a**ed. That's the American way." Although Homer is a safety inspector, he mainly sleeps and eats donuts when he's at work. Homer really needs to learn about safety solutions--especially since he works at a nuclear power plant.
Safety Solutions in the Real World
Did you know...
- ...that the average cost of a workman's compensation claim due to a workplace injury is more than $13,000?
- ...that the indirect costs associated with a workplace injury is a minimum of four times the direct cost?
These people must be working at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant! If you want to avoid becoming one of these statistics, you need workplace safety solutions in place to avoid accidents and injuries. To get started, get familiar with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and make sure your workplace is compliant. This might require you to get some sort of training program lined up for your employees. If you have a training department, ask them to set up a training class on safety solutions based on OSHA's requirements.
If you don't have the luxury of a training department, get some DVDs or videos about safety solutions. Just make sure the DVDs or videos are OSHA compliant, and make sure your employees sign a waiver after watching them saying that they watched and understood the safety solutions that are in place. Doing this can save you money and more importantly, keep your employees safe!
