	<title>Safety Products</title>
	<description>
When you think of safety products, do you think of the little plugs you put in outlets so babies don't shock themselves, or do you remember the bomb shelters people bought in the 1950s when they were afraid of a nuclear attack? Most safety products run the gamut of what's useful and what's not.

Useful Safety Products
Speaking of running the gamut, there are safety products that protect us from simple things in every day life to safety products that are designed to be used in hazardous situations. Here are a few examples of the basic:

  Bug spray and citronella candles keep us safe from mosquito bites
  Sunscreen, sunglasses and hats protect us from the sun's damaging rays
  Taking a daily multivitamin and using antibacterial hand washing products can prevent us from getting sick

And here are a few examples of the more...heavy-duty:

  A bullet proof vest protects law enforcement officials from getting killed if they get shot at
  Hardhats protect construction workers from head injuries if they should fall from a high place
  Goggles can protect people's eyes in a number of professions, like welding, for example.

Safety Products You Probably Don't Need
There are companies who will prey on people's fears. These companies sell resources like dehydrated food that never goes bad for $40 a meal, an all-weather emergency bag (which looks like one of the Hefty Steel Sacks trash bags that was made years ago) and others. Evaluate your risk. If you live in Florida, your chances of needing an avalanche survival kit will be slim to none unless you are vacationing in Iceland. And nobody needs a bomb shelter anymore. (At least we hope not!) When you are considering buying safety products, think about your needs. Use your head. That kind of safety is priceless.
