Online Safety Tips

When it comes to online safety, common sense is the best weapon. But of course, common sense is not that inherent in kids and that's why parents have to be on top of their game. They must know everything their kids do, especially when it comes to their online activity. Parents should sit down with their kids and explain to them the dangers of being online. Make sure they know that not everybody online are who they say they are. Kids are too trusting, especially when it comes to making new friends, and predators know how to use it to their advantage. You want to be aware of everything and everyone your children meet and talk to online. Here are a few online safety tips.

Online Safety Tips (When Gaming Online)

When it comes to protecting your children online, here are a few tips to get you started:

Become educated: Become familiar with the games your children play online, the ratings and the privacy statements and reviews.

Watch your kids: Watch the games your children play. Put the computer in a public room where you can see exactly what they are play and who they are playing with.

Make rules: These should be made prior to your child getting online. Set a specific time for them to play, what games they play and how long they play for.

Keep them private: Make sure you tell them to NEVER give out any personal information about themselves or their family (e.g. address, phone number, school they go to, etc.)

When it comes to online safety, you can never protect your kids too much. Do what it takes so that they don't become victims. Be safe and practice proper online safety measures. It could mean the difference between a safe time online or tragedy.
