Kitchen Safety

We all know not to touch a hot stove, or to be careful when handling sharp objects like knives and cutters. But young children don't have that capacity for common sense. If a child sees something that looks interesting, chances are they are going to reach for it. It's the parent's job to make sure their children are safe. This is kitchen safety tip number one. There are other kitchen safety tips, most of which are common sense, but sometimes we need a little reminder. Here are a few kitchen safety tips to make your time in the kitchen a lot safer and a lot less hazardous.

Kitchen Safety Tips
Never leave a child alone in a ktchen under any circumstance. Always keep your children under close supervision, especially since there are sharp objects lying around and poisons within reach. If you must have your child in the kitchen, make sure there are somewhere safe, like a highchair, but far away from anything remotely resembling danger. Do not place them near stoves, because they can get burned very easily. Also, do not leave them near the countertops, especially when there are knives out or any other sharp utensils. Keep them away from the sink because of dirty dishes and dishwashing liquid and other household cleaners.

If your child is older and cannot fit a highchair, sit them at the dinner table where it is safe. Make sure to have activities to occupy their minds and their hands. Coloring books are perfect (non-toxic crayons, of course). Make sure there aren't any objects on the table that can cause them any harm. Never keep your back turned to them, always be mindful of where they are at all times.

These simple kitchen safety tips are just the beginning. When it comes to kitchen safety, you want to be safe, not sorry.
